Dr. Paul Dores will review the DSM-5 and delineate the differences from previous diagnostic criteria and the possible impact or incidence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and access to services. He will explain changes in California due to the elimination of the Hughes Bill requirements. In addition, he will discuss the occurrence of challenging behavior and why behavior programs may not be as successful as we might prefer. Lastly, he will examine ethical challenges for behavior practitioners in the ASD field.
